school tomorrow!! i just hope i get the schedule i want!!! going back to trying to add classes on the first day of school....so hope i get added to the ones im trying to get=) these past 2 weeks have flown by!
on 3/17 len and i flew to new york....i miss jet blue! it was a great flying experience and i got to see the great lakes.....the flight seemed pretty short esp since we were equipped with direct tv...too bad it was already late when we arrived....so when we got there we checked into our first hotel and it was cute, like a studio suite type....we went around looking for a place to eat....since it was st patrick's day lotsa people were out at the local bars getting drunk and we even saw a few guys wearing kilts, playing the bag pipes! and it was freezing outside!!! we finally ate at a pizza place and went back....we couldnt really settle in cuz we were switching hotels the next day...so we spent our time planning out the days, looking at brochures, and exploring through google earth with the internet connection the room had....
the next day we had to check out by 12 and asked for an early check in at the other hotel....it was a great hotel, but the room we had was kinda small but had a great view of the river~
then we went to the rockefeller center and walked around took pics, and went to the top of the rock observation deck...it was beautiful, but cold! we got to see great views of the whole city, central park and empire state bldg....after that we wandered around the shops and food court inside the building, we couldnt find a way out!!! finally when we found a way out we realized that we had traveled underground to another building far from where we started!!! then i wanted to be like felicity and i totally wanted to go to dean & deluca....we caught the 5:30 mass at st patricks cathedral...it was such a beautiful church!!!! inside and out!!!! the mass seemed really short too...then we went to h & m....bought a few things there....len bought alot since the mens dept there is waaaay bigger than the h&m in sf....after that we walked to times square and looked for a place to eat..we passed the toys r us there and it was huge and fun!!!!!! then we walked around again and we ended up at a pizza place again...not sure if we've actually eaten the authentic ny pizza yet tho....then we watched v for vendetta at the amc 25...i loved the movie!! and then we went back to the hotel
on sunday, we decided to go to central park.....that park is huge!!!we took a carriage ride first and then ate lunch at rue 57...the place was ok but i wished we ate somewhere else.....we found jekyll n hyde club but when i found out that weird people and monsters bug u while ure eating i didnt want to eat there anymore....then we walked around central park....went to the trump skating rink, bethesda fountain, belvedere castle, turtle pond, great lawn and forgot what else we saw....i wanted to try to find cherry hill to see cherry trees, but we never found it.....we got too tired ! then we decided to leave by nightfall and i wanted to try to go to the gray's papaya place....it was quite a walk but we found it..the food was great!! but i wanted a chili dog like in "fools rush in" but they didnt have that there! i was misled!! i wonder if any of the gray's papaya places have that?? but the hot dogs were cheap and great and the papaya juice yummy!! then we shopped for snacks at duane reade....thats like theire walgreens there....theres like one on every block!
on monday we tried to request changing rooms because there were stains in the first room that were weirding me out....they didnt have any rooms avail yet, but they said theyd move us while we were out if something came up....so we took the cab again to times square to meet for the tour we were going to take...we were really early so len and i ate at majestic deli....they had many great choices there! but i decided to get a corn beef sandwich on rye (earlier in the week in cali, someone who saw me wearing my ny shirt told me he was from there and told me i gota eat at a deli and have that....so i tried it) it was yummy!!! then we wandered around til the tour was ready to load us on the party shuttle....meanwhile i was calling ticketmaster to see if there were any wicked tix avail cuz when i checked online they said that they were unavailable....so there were some orchestra seats available so we got those...our other choice was to try to go to tkts to get discount tickets to another show.......our tour guide and driver were great and they provided cold drinks! we went to central park, 5th ave, rockefeller, the dakota, passed chinatown, nyu neighborhood, soho, noho, tribeca, madison square park, south st seaport, saw the brooklyn manhattan and williamsburg bridges....took the staten island ferry during sunset to see the manhattan skyline and the statue of liberty....ground zero, st paul's chapel, wall street, drove by that famous bull, and then we got dropped off at the empire state building....it was soo pretty up there!!but totally felt like someone was holding ice to my face! after that we were tired and starving but somehow we gathered some energy to walk to times square and look for something to eat....since it was late we tried our luck at bubba gumps....maybe there would be no wait....we were right! it was pretty empty..it was great finally getting to eat at a bubba gumps overlooking times square....with such a busy day we totally earned this good meal and chance to unwind...we took the cab to the hotel and discovered we got moved to another room....this room was on the top most floor....when we got to the room, we walked in to a view of the chrysler building and the empire state building right in front of us.. it was beautiful and the room was bigger!!!! it had more furniture and internet capability!!...(the other room was lacking a table, two chairs, an ottoman, and the internet connectivity that this new room had)......the hotel had room service menus and i was wondering in the old room where would we eat it cuz there was nothing but the the dresser, two chairs and a bed....this new room clearly had a place to eat and the view that was pictured on the room service menu.....
on tuesday we decided to try the subway....we had been taking the taxi the past couple of days and it was getting expensive...but we also couldnt leave ny without taking the subway....we went to grand central station....it was such an experience just being in there and being around all the new yorkers.....its sooo busy!! the subway wasnt bad at all and we took that to battery park so we could take the ferry to statue of liberty.....that was soooo cool to be so close to the statue of liberty...and see ellis island...(we didnt get to get off there cuz i guess it was already late)...i loved it there....and we got to see the manhattan skyline again and also the jersey city skyline....then we went back to the grand central station and got a bite to eat...then walked to the new york public library....that place is beautiful!!!! we walked around in there a bit and left to visit my cuzn leah...she lives in a really nice doorman building....and we got to meet her bf, toby and the yorkshire terrier puppies!! they were soooo cute! i loved playing with them......then we went to the village to eat at john's, the best pizza in ny!.....it was worth the wait outside for a table...! and then they took us to magnolia bakery to grab the greatest cupcakes and banana pudding!!! yummy! i wish we could go back there! then i realized when i was doing research online that this might be the bakery from sex & the city....and while we were walking around we saw something getting filmed in one of the stores...it was great getting to hang with leah, toby, and the puppies and eating some great ny food!
wednesday...our last day!! went by so fast! we didnt get to do alot of things that we wanted to do yet like the central park zoo and go to a museum.....we took the subway again to the gershwin theater to watch wicked.....there were sooo many kids there!!! the musical was wonderful!!! different than any musical id ever seen!!! len and i loved it!! then we tried to get some food and roxy deli was near by and i had seen it on the city guide in one of the hotels....so we went in and everything was sooo expensive..i got a 16 dollar burger and len got a corn beef dish that was like $22!.....len felt sick so he didnt even really eat it!!! we went back to millenium to rest and later we got to eat at serendipity....the frozen hot chocolate was yummy! we ordered food there too...wish we ate there instead of roxy's
on thursday we had to get up early and head over to times square to get stuff for our parents....and we had to hurry cuz our shuttle to the airport was at 12:55pm....so we walked to waldorf-astoria, then ended up walking down 5th ave a little and discovered the philippine consulate...we went into a little museum and went on our way to get pasalubong....we got to times square and couldnt find any of the mom n pop stores id seen before to get the sweatshirt i wanted so since i remember seeing them at central park we took a cab there and i bought my stuff there....we went to the fao there too and went back to the hotel.....so we packed our last minute stuff and wandered around checking out the indoor pool on the 27th floor we didnt get to use (that also had a wonderful view), and took pics of the UN which was a right next to us, and of our hotel....then we hopped on our shuttle and i was able to see a few more sights through there.....we were early at the airport but we kept busy with the free high speed internet there and i got to eat at papaya king cuz they had one there! they had a chili cheese dog, that was yummy but overpriced cuz it was at the airport....the flight was a lot longer, but i got to see the snow while we were flying over the mid-west...
we really need to take a trip back again and do the stuff we didnt get to do and maybe go to washington dc and niagara falls too! i totally wanted to eat at a white castle too!!!! hopefully some time soon we can go back...
during the weekend, we hung out with kuya av and monica and went to thai bbq, then we went to erica and bo's wedding at the la equestrian center....it was beautiful!!!! we're soo happy for the newlyweds!!! they look so wonderful and happy!!
